First Day First Show

I am not a movie buff, but I must admit that I always enjoyed the good work on screen. I guess I am also blessed with watching all time hits at the time when every one is tiered of watching them, every one is tired of talking about them….the movie enthusiast in awakens to grab that opportunity and ends up watching and talking about a movie till all folks around me tell me to shut up. I have a friend in office, who boasts being the proud witness to all “First day, if not first show” movies and talking proudly in office on the next day………I must admit, I feel complexed looking at that spirit…I complement fella. I guess the bolly….Holly………Lolly……Tolly……along with great PVRs and IMAXs survive on his spirit.

As a child I remember, I got to see Sholay……the famous Block buster of 70’s  after every child on the street was able to narrate “Gabbar Singh’s Kitne Aadmi the…” with a great perfection.  But when I got opportunity to walk into marvelous Minerva at Grant Road…..I was quite overwhelmed by the situation…. From the word go I enjoyed every bit and every frame of Sholay…..for me it was a first day first show. I walked out of theater after three hours carrying life time memories.

The similar story has been repeated on almost all occasions….i saw the sinking Titanic after the whole world had seen the breathtaking sight and was touched by the eternal love story of Jack and rose and was appreciated with 9 Oscars. I remember I saw the movie in some theater in Coimbatore. I had gone for an afternoon show that was preceded by some Masala Tamil Movie.  The theater was mostly empty. I was wondering how titanic is gonna treat me…..but as the first frame appeared on the large screen with majestic titanic………I was never the same man again…….the thought that I was the late latif to see the movie never touched my mind……the surroundings did not matter to me…….the passing comments of door keepers on why a very few of us watching titanic didn’t bother me….at the end of the day it was a heartfelt experience for me and I thanked stars for getting me that wonderful moment.

Another hit bollywood pie that tasted long after it became stale….”Hum Aapke Hai Kaun?...” Had it been a real time story…Madhuri Dixit would have become mother of two by the time I had seen the movie. But this time my fortunes were still surviving. When I walked in to famous twin movie hall at koti (don’t remember names…I guess it was maheshwari/ parmeshwari…do they still exist) in Hyderabad…movie was still running houseful. I guess that saved some grace for me.

I still keep making big plans, only to miss magic moments. Never mind…I am not a big movie buff but so long as I am able to keep my appointment with whatever I like at whatever time I feel convenient ..its ok with me….ultimately its better late than never that matters to me. So guys like Munnabhai, Don….don’t get disheartened…I will definitely visit you…but on my terms.
